Organically grown Mashua tubers. of varying sizes- These are a standard white Mashua variety.
150g will contain approx 4-6 tubers / 300g approx 8-12 tubers of varying sizes . Large tubers can be cut in several pieces - each with an 'eye' when planted).
A perennial climbing plant reaching about 2 metres. Flowers from September. Produces edible tubers quite close to surface. Tubers start growing from November. Dig out when foliage has completely died back. Keep some tubers back and replant in Spring or in milder climates, leave some in the ground, mulch and over-winter.
The spicy young leaves are fantastic in salad. The flowers are also edible and quite sweet. The tubers have a peppery-radish flavour when raw but a more subtle taste on cooking. Very high in Vitamin C.
On receipt, keeping a cool, dark place and plant out in Spring after risk of frost has passed.
