£7.95 – £8.95
A climbing perennial producing strings of small edible tubers between 2-5cm. Prefers a moist soil and does very well grown in containers. Reaches 1-3m high and will need support e.g. canes, a nearby tree to climb up. Fragrant purple-brown flowers appear in summer. Foliage will die back with the frost.
Nitrogen-fixing plant.
Tubers can be harvested in autumn – leaving a few in situ for next year’s crop. They can be eaten raw or cooked and have a sweet potato-like flavour. For larger tubers, leave to grow on for and extra year.
TUBERS – you will receive 3 large or 5 medium tubers
PLANT – you will receive a plant grown in a 9cm pot from three small tubers. It is advised to leave this plant for another whole growing season before harvesting tubers.
