German Chamomile ‘Bodegold’ (Matricaria recutita)

Bodegold is an improved German variety of chamomile with higher essential oil content, large flowers – significantly sweeter than other varieties – and higher yield. It also grows more uniformly. Annual growing to 60cm high with daisy-like flowers from early to mid-summer. Very aromatic. Will tolerate most soils but prefers well-drained and sunny position. Used medicinally, the flowers are used mainly as a tea and are thought to promote relaxation, calming and settling the stomach. It is thought to be anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.
