Horehound (Marrubium vulgare)

A small flowering perennial plant or the mint family. Found all over Europe and is indigenous to Britain.

Horehound is hardy, easily grown, and flourishes best in a dry, poor soil. Flowers June to September.

Has both medicinal and culinary uses. It boasts many of the similar health benefits as mint, making it an important plant in some traditional medicinal practices. It can be used to make throat lozenges or candies, which are used to soothe sore throats and it is believed to be beneficial for chronic cough and asthma. It can also be made into an ointment which is good for wounds.
